My Old Blog! huhu

February 26, 2007

Salutations!

I found my old blog! I guess thespoke never deleted it!! Woohoo!! *update about page* I also found one of my old entries about an article I couldn’t forget. I found it on a Reader’s Digest issue (October 1991) back when I was still engrossed in RD. (To RD: One of these days, I will subscribe to you!) I hope you guys like this too. :)

Early to bed and early to rise makes you sleepy in the afternoon

February 22, 2007

I slept early last night. (Early in the morning) EARLY nevertheless. (hahaha)

I woke up at 6AM, stood up, took my towel, and went to the bathroom.  I was about to begin my daily morning ritual when I suddenly realized that I was still actually lying down… on my bed. And already 8 in the morning..

My dreams are getting more and more real! (Hwow!)

Anyway, I got to work, went to my new cube.. sat down.. and spent the whole day looking for a way to keep myself warm.

The airconditioner unit points directly at my cube..! At least one of its vents are. Demm..

I just wanted to add a picture. hahaha!

That’s about it.

God bless!

Nobody wants me. Everybody hates me. :(

February 21, 2007

I’m known in the office as a burikat or prostitute. Project groups just use me for a short span of time, and then they transfer me to another group. In less than a year, I’ve transferred from three (3) groups already. My current group is my fourth, and I’m not even billed yet. But it’s okay, I guess.

Today, I just transferred cubes.

(Aaaaanyway.. enough of that..)

My sahia (3rd brother) just passed the board examinations for Architecture! We now have an architect in the family! Woohooo!! :D Congrats bro! I knew you could do it. He has expressed his plans to go to Singapore or Qatar to work. Aim high! Weee!

That’s also good because I’ve been looking forward to going to Singapore myself. :D But I think I’ll just increase my years of experience here, or until I’ve reached my limit with my current company (… which is, by the way, really pulling my hair.)

The Philippines is a nation of starstruck ignoramuses

February 20, 2007

An old article I got from our forum in the office. :D   As stated, this was posted on October 29, 2000.

‘The Philippines is a nation of starstruck ignoramuses’
by Don Pedero
Philippine Star 29 October 2000

Last July 23, I wrote about Nasty (short for Anastacio), a balikbayan from Los Angeles, who, while vacationing in Manila, had nothing to say but negative comments about the Philippines and the Filipinos. The article elicited a deluge of comments from our readers. Though some agreed with his curt observations, most were enraged at the repulsive way he acted and whined.

For me, he was the classic epitome of the “crow perched on a carabao,” thinking and acting nauseatingly superior just because he has become an American citizen, inequitably comparing everything here to how they are in the first world. I was particularly irked by his repulsive “know it all” attitude and peeved no end by his irritating Waray-American twang.

Those who have not read that article may access philstar.com and click archives, then select July 23 and click Lifestyle. The article is entitled “Little Brown Americans.” As a backgrounder, here is an excerpt:

The next day, I took them on a little city tour and accompanied them to do extra shopping at the duty-free shop. They were to leave two days later for their respective provinces (Randy is from Pampanga, Nasty, from Samar).

“God, ang dilem-dilem naman ditow (it is so dark here)!” screamed Nasty in his characteristic Taglish slang, “At ang inet-inet pa (and so warm)!

The Story of Bali

February 12, 2007

 Hey guys!

Duches is here in Cebu (OMG! Woohoo!) hehe

We had dinner at Paui and Aileen’s house last friday. Liempo, Pochero, Lechon Manok, and a lot of rice, jokes here, jokes there, dinagko’g birahanay, ginagmay’g chika: a typical dinner. hehe! :D

Anyway, after dinner, we went to our number one bestest, most favoritest dessert restaurant: La Marea!! (Woohoo!! Fireworks!! *boom!* *pudufffff* *pudufffff* *crackle* *pop*)

This is where the Memories of Bali took place.

After we did what we could with the Warm Brownie Cups (*drool drool*), we continued with whatever conversations we could bring up, part of which was about stuff that happened in our batch. We were pretty engrossed, as usual, reminiscing about the past and how they’ve affected us up to now. In one of our quiet times, Paui sang a tune, “Memories…”and then Aileen coined all of a sudden (and also with a tune), “… of Bali…”
(From Left) Aileen, Duches, Len, and Bele

We were.. like.. dumbfounded, confused, flabbergasted.. you know.. the usual..

(From left) Achi, Paula, and Bird

Then the whole night just suddenly turned all Bali-like. Everything we said had to have “of Bali.” hehehe Aileen was so overwhelmed with joy that she cried. Pictures not taken during this emo moment. heheheh!

Ahem ahem..

So that’s about it. It was another fun night. :D

Baboosh ginamoosh!

Anything in parenthesis can (not) be ignored

February 9, 2007

In the gym we usually play badminton in, the receptionist usually wears a plunging, or a revealing shirt or blouse.  As a testosterone driven creature, my eyes usually shift to the direction of the (according to Jeff) kanal sa dughan or chest canal (If you know what I mean).

A post that says, “DON’T READ!” usually tickles the curiosity of a lot of people.

“What’s there that we shouldn’t read?”
“DON’T READ huh? I’ll show YOU!”
“Why would you post it if we’re not supposed to read it?”
“Whatever.. Don’t read don’t read..”

But it’s a good attention grabber. Especially if you were to apply that to Filipinos.

Hey, if it can be, it will be. Right?

(Exactly.)

I doubt therefore I might be

February 8, 2007

Hello!

I just wanna tell you that I had my “about page” created. :D

Not much thoughts today. Only that I’ve been sleepy all day.

(Busy last night?)

Yeah.. I played badminton with some of my friends, and I got home around midnight and -

(Whatever, dru, we don’t need the details..)

Point is, I enjoyed last night, and I think I’ve set a schedule for “badminton night.” Weeeee!

(Hehehehe.. Congrats..)

Yeah thanks for the enthusiasm. :P

I know that there are people who do not love their fellow man

February 7, 2007

(.. and I hate people like that!)

Love is going to fill the air again as February 14 tiptoes its way closer.

Yesterday, we had a little sharing, “Love your enemies” the topic said. A lot shared about themselves as their own and worst enemies. Many about their husbands and wives as their enemies, and apologies to people who’ve committed a crime against their pride.

It IS hard, especially if our pride steps in the way. When one does you or your friend wrong, we find a need for lashing, with hands and/or tongue.

As for my part, if both the offender and I can still co-exist without a lashing, I will hold back. And when the need arises.. One is sure to die..

(Either you or the offender.. haha)

Yeah.. either one of us. hahaha! Point is, our respect for people should always be first priority. Even though some people don’t have an ounce of respect for others, our respect for them as a human being remains.

(Lame..)

Okay okay! It should be more of a sticks-and-stones thing.

(Nuh-uhh..)

Fine fine!

“TOUCH me and you DIIIEEEEE!!!”

(There you go!)

*pant* *wheeze* *pant* *wheeze* *cough cough* *wheeze*

Work and sh*t

February 6, 2007

One and a half year in working, I often wonder why I’m not feeling bored with my job. I wake up in the morning, maybe sleep a few more minutes, then get up, take a bath, eat my breakfast, brush my teeth, dress up, walk to the office, punch in, work.. After work, I punch out, walk home, cook dinner, eat dinner, go to sleep.

(Wow.. The good life huh? Boring.)

Yes. I know. It IS boring. Well, that is if you look at it THAT way.

The reason boils down to my friends. They overwhelm the drudgery I experience everyday. I owe it all to them.

(HAH! Emo.)

Fine fine.

I took a sh*t this morning.

Like that?

(Nice one! I feel better already.)
